I SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT SERVICE PLAN

 

There was submitted Report No 137-2008 by the Director of Social Work recommending the adoption of the Social Work Department Service Plan.

 

The Committee approved the Social Work Department Service Plan for 2007/2011.

 

II EUROPEAN FOUNDATION OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT (EFQM) CASE STUDY ON DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT

 

Reference was made to Article I of the minute of meeting of the Social Work Committee held on 19th February, 2007, wherein the Committee agreed the most recent EFQM self-assessment of the Social Work Department.

 

There was submitted Report No 131-2008 by the Director of Social Work informing of the production of the bi-annual EFQM case study on the Social Work Department and of proposals for improvement actions.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to note and approve the contents of this report;

 

(ii) to instruct the Director of Social Work to ensure that necessary actions were incorporated into the new Departmental Service Plan 2007/2011 or in the Departmental Performance Management Plan which was due to be completed in March 2008; and

 

(iii) to instruct the Director of Social Work to produce a further bi-annual EFQM case study assessment for the period 2008 and 2009.

 

III REFORMING AND REVITALISING - REPORT OF THE REVIEW OF COMMUNITY PENALTIES

 

There was submitted Report No 130-2008 by the Director of Social Work informing of the proposals contained in the Scottish Government's recent review of community penalties and highlighting the potential implications and identifying what actions could be taken locally to progress the review.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to note that Reforming and Revitalising contained proposals and suggested actions to ensure community penalties were used to their full potential in future and that a number of the actions were already in progress, however, some of the proposals had significant operational implications which required further consideration;

 

(ii) to note the contents of the review and potential implications for service delivery; and

 

(iii) to instruct the Director of Social Work to embark on a series of consultations through the local Community Planning Networks and provide Committee with a review of progress in twelve months' time.
