I PROTOCOL BETWEEN DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL AND DUNDEE COLLEGE
There was submitted Report No 240-2008 by the Director of Social Work advising of the implementation of a jointly agreed Protocol between Dundee City Council and Dundee College. The Protocol would result in increased support for young people who had been, or were, looked after by Dundee City Council, and who were considering, or undertaking, a course of study with Dundee College.
The Committee agreed:-
(i) to acknowledge the Protocol;
(ii) to recognise the valuable contribution the Protocol would make to further improving educational outcomes for young people who had been or were looked after; and
(iii) to remit the Director of Social Work to conclude the Protocol on the terms in the report.
II IMPLICATIONS OF THE NATIONAL CARE HOME CONTRACT - FEE LEVELS FOR 2008/2009
There was submitted Report No 220-2008 by the Director of Social Work informing of the outcome of negotiations between COSLA, the Scottish Government and care home providers in relation to the ongoing development of a National Care Home Contract. The report also recommended payment rates for 2008/2009 for independent sector care homes as outlined in the National Care Home Contract negotiations.
The Committee agreed:-
(i) to note the outcome of the National Care Home Contract negotiations, particularly the increased quality levels expected of care homes in order to receive higher weekly payments; and
(ii) that payments made to independent sector care homes were increased in line with the detailed recommendations outlined in the report.
