The minute of meeting of this Committee of 28th April, 2008 was held as read.

 

Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.

 

Prior to the commencement of business, tribute was paid to Mr Sandy Weston who was due to retire shortly from his post as Head of Education Resources.

 

I HM INSPECTORATE OF EDUCATION - FOLLOW THROUGH INSPECTION REPORT - BRAEVIEW ACADEMY

 

There was submitted and noted report relative to the above.

 

II TENDERS RECEIVED

 

There was submitted Report No 272-2008 by the City Architectural Services Officer listing tenders received and requesting a decision thereon:-

 

(i) CASTLEPARK CENTRE - BOILER REPLACEMENT

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by CMS Heating and Plumbing Ltd, Arbroath for 82,795.86, together with allowances of 4,850 for removal of asbestos, 886 for CDM Co-Ordinator and 12,490 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 101,021.86.

 

(ii) ST LUKE'S AND ST MATTHEW'S PRIMARY SCHOOL - NEW HEATING SYSTEM - PHASE 2

 

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer with Taylor Mechanical Services Ltd, Dundee for 135,049.95, together with allowances of 1,196 for CDM Co-Ordinator and 19,244 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 155,489.95.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 5 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

III REQUEST FOR EDUCATION AT HOME

 

There was submitted Report No 279-2008 by the Director of Education requesting Committee approval for an application for education at home.

 

The Committee approved the application for education at home.
