I STATUTORY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS 2007/2008 (AUDITED) - COMPARING CURRENT TO PAST PERFORMANCE

There was submitted Report No 437-2008 by the Head of Finance advising the Sub-Committee of the Council's performance for the financial year 2007/2008 as defined by the Statutory Performance Indicators and comparing it to that of the preceding financial year.

The Sub-Committee agreed:-

(i) to note the improvement in performance in 2007/2008 compared to the previous year's performance;

(ii) that the appropriate Chief Officers review the information contained within the report, particularly for those items where performance had marginally declined, with a view to improving performance in future years. Chief Officers would also ensure that plans were in place to improve poor indicators and that the authority have a Position Statement for those indicators not expected to improve in the near future;

(iii) that the audited Statutory Performance Indicators in Appendix 2 to the report be published on the Internet and made available at the main offices of the Authority for information for the general public and other stakeholders; and

(iv) that the relevant departmental staff be thanked for their contribution towards the improved performance of the Council.

II STATUTORY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS 2008/2009 - PERFORMANCE REPORT FOR FIRST QUARTER

There was submitted Report No 446-2008 by the Head of Finance advising the Sub-Committee of the performance of Dundee City Council for the three months to 30th June 2008, the first quarter of the current financial year, as defined by the Statutory Performance Indicators.

The Sub-Committee agreed:-

(i) to note that performance levels in the first quarter of the new financial year had generally been maintained or improved;

(ii) that all Chief Officers review the contents of Appendix 1 to the report as it related to their service and consider if there were any indicators for which performance could be improved; and

(iii) that for any red colour coded indicators, the relevant Chief Officer ensure that there was a Position Statement in place noting the reasons for performance not achieving target and any remedial action in place to improve the Performance Indicator.

III QUARTERLY MONITORING REPORT ON PROGRESS WITH STRATEGIC PLANS

There was submitted Report No 410-2008 by the Assistant Chief Executive advising the Sub-Committee on progress to date with the objectives, projects and reviews contained in the departmental Service Plans 2007/2011.

The Sub-Committee agreed to:-

(i) note the content of this report, including the assessment of overall progress in paragraph 5.2 and the attached tables which detailed any items which had been assessed as behind schedule, unlikely to be achieved or abandoned; and

(ii) agreed that, as part of the commitment to Public Performance Reporting, this report be added to the "Plans and Performance" section on the Council's website.
