I ALLOCATION OF FUNDING TO LITERACIES PARTNERSHIP

 

There was submitted Report No 55-2009 by the Director of Leisure and Communities detailing the allocations received by the Literacies Partnership from Youthlink Scotland and Learning Connections, Scottish Government and seeking approval for implementation of the projects.

 

The Committee approved the implementation of a paired reading scheme for young adults using an 11,503 allocation from Youthlink Scotland and also agreed to create a framework for delivering effective literacy learning to offenders inside and outside prison, using a further allocation of 39,942.73 from Learning Connections Scottish Government.

 

II CAMPERDOWN PARK - PROPOSED CAFE/VISITOR/EDUCATION CENTRE

 

On a reference to Article III of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 28th April, 2008, there was submitted Report No 78-2009 by the Director of Leisure and Communities updating the Committee on progress relating to the outline design and costs associated with the creation of an integrated Cafe/Visitor/Education Centre at Camperdown Park and seeking approval to invite tenders for the work and potential lessee partnership for the cafe element of the project.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i) note the progress made on the outline design and costs;

 

(ii) remit the City Architectural Services Officer to bring forward a tender report in respect of the works; and

(iii) remit to the Directors of Leisure and Communities and Economic Development to seek a partnership with the potential Lessee for the catering franchise with the objective of an early appointment to assist in the design and implementation.
