I NATIONAL ORGANISATIONS - DEPARTMENTAL MEMBERSHIP OF CILIP (CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATIONPROFESSIONALS) AND SLIC (SCOTTISH LIBRARY AND INFORMATION COUNCIL)
There was submitted Agenda Note AN103-2010 seeking approval for the renewal of subscription, as noted below, for the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) and the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC). Membership of both CILIP and SLIC would provide Leisure and Communities staff with access to knowledge, support and career development networking opportunities.
Annual Subscription to Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP): |
650.00
|
Annual Subscription to Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC): |
2,006.11 |
The expenditure would be met from the Leisure and Communities Department's 2010/2011 Revenue Budget.
The Committee approved accordingly.
II DOUGLAS SPORTS CENTRE - REPLACEMENT OF RESISTANCE EQUIPMENT
The Convener, Bailie Wallace and Councillors Hunter, Ross and McCready declared a non-financial interest in this item by virtue of their Council appointment to Dundee Leisure Board.
There was submitted Agenda Note AN104-2010, advising the Committee that the existing Resistance Fitness Equipment at the Douglas Sports Centre required to be replaced. It was proposed to purchase new equipment which would include free weight resistant units. This would replace the obsolete equipment which is over 10 years old. These upgraded units would include low-profile towers, rounded frame lines, easily visible instructions, colour coded operator controls/adjustments and extended warranties beyond the manufacture warranty.
Following Dundee City Council's Framework Agreement through the Scotland Excel contract, a direct award had been given to Life Fitness (UK) Ltd, Queen Adelaide, Cambridgeshire, CB7 4UB for the replacement of the existing Resistance (Fitness) Equipment at the Douglas Sports Centre at a cost of 18,392.68.
The Committee agreed that this offer be accepted, having noted that the total expenditure of 18,392.68 could be met from the allocation within the Leisure and Communities 2010/2011 Capital Budget.
The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.
III DONATION
The Committee agreed to approve the proposals detailed within the Agenda Note.
Bob DUNCAN, Convener.
