The minute of meeting of this Committee of 23rd May, 2011 was held as read.

I TENDERS RECEIVED

 

There was submitted Report No 328-2011 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing tenders received and requesting a decision thereon:-

 

(i) ANCRUM ROAD PRIMARY SCHOOL - PERGOLA REFURBISHMENT

 

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services for 91,734.89, together with an allowance of 8,497 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 100,231.89.

 

(ii) MENZIESHILL HIGH SCHOOL - WINDOW REPLACEMENT - NORTHERN ELEVATION - PHASE 3

 

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services for 78,409.84, together with an allowance of 7,623 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 85,672.84.

 

(iii) ST MARY'S INFANT SCHOOL - REMOVAL OF FURNITURE TO MAIN BUILDING

 

The Committee agreed to accept a partnering offer with Dundee Removal Services Ltd for 8,430, together with an allowance of 320 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 8,750.

 

(iv) GLEBELANDS PRIMARY SCHOOL - DRAFT PROOFING OF WINDOWS

 

The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services for 13,000, together with an allowance of 1,924 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 14,924.

II ANNUAL UPDATE ON SERVICE PLAN AND KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS 2011

 

There was submitted Report No 280-2011 by the Director of Education presenting the first annual update on the Education Department's revised Service Plan 2010/2012.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i) noted the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) instructed the Director of Education to continue to monitor the progress and impact of the plan and report back, as required, in the revised corporate service planning guidelines.

 

III RELOCATION OF EASTERN PRIMARY SCHOOL

 

There was submitted Report No 295-2011 by the Director of Education detailing action taken to prepare the old Grove Academy building for occupation by Eastern Primary School.

 

The Committee noted:-

 

(i) the contents of the report;

 

(ii) that pupils and staff would occupy the new Eastern Primary School building from the start of Session 2011/2012; and

 

(iii) the expenditure incurred in delivering the project.

 

IV PROVISION OF FUNDING TO FAIRBRIDGE IN DUNDEE

 

There was submitted Report No 324-2011 by the Director of Education seeking approval to award funding to support the work carried out by Fairbridge in Dundee.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i) noted the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) approved the award of 10,000 funding to Fairbridge in Dundee.

 

V GLEBELANDS PRIMARY SCHOOL AND ST MARYS PRIMARY SCHOOL - FLAT ROOF REPLACEMENT TO KITCHENS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN106-2011 reporting that due to severe weather problems in the early part of the year, damage to existing roofs over the above schools resulted in leaks to the kitchens, which could have caused problems with regard to catering for the schools.

 

Following an inspection by Technical Officers in both City Development and Architectural Services, it was recommended that the roofs be replaced as a matter of urgency. With the approval of the Chief Executive, the works were instructed and carried out by Dundee Contract Services, contained within the allowances in the Education Capital Plan 2010/2011.

 

The Committee was asked to note that the works had been completed and were within the allowances. The total costs, inclusive of professional services were as noted below:-
