III DESIGN DUNDEE LTD
Reference was made to Article IV of the minute of meeting of the City Council of 28th October, 2013, wherein David Dorward, Chief Executive, was appointed the Councils representative on Design Dundee Ltd.
In light of Mr Dorwards impending retirement, the City Council were asked to approve the appointment of David Martin, Chief Executive Designate, as the Councils representative on Design Dundee Ltd with effect from 1st December, 2014.
Mr Dorwards Alternate was Mike Galloway, Director of City Development, and it was recommended that Mr Galloway be re-appointed to this role, again with effect from 1st December, 2014.
The Council approved accordingly.
IV HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE INTEGRATION SHADOW BOARD
Reference was made to Article VII of the minute of meeting of the Policy and Resources Committee of 27th October, 2014.
Councillor Dawson, seconded by Councillor Hunter, moved that Councillors Lynn, Hunter and Bowes be nominated to serve on the above Board.
As an amendment, Councillor Keenan, seconded by Councillor McCready, moved that Bailie Wright be nominated to serve on the Board in place of one of the foregoing nominations.
On a division, there voted for the motion - Lord Provost Duncan, Depute Lord Provost Roberts, Councillors Guild, Alexander, Black, Bowes, Campbell, Cordell, Dawson, Hunter, Lynn, McDonald, Melville, Murray and Bailie Sawers (15); and for the amendment - Councillors Keenan, Asif, Bidwell, Brennan, Cruickshank, Ferguson, Gordon, McCready, McGovern, Macpherson and Bailies Wright, Borthwick and Scott (13) - whereupon the motion was declared carried.
V WORLD WAR 1 MEMORIAL TO DUNDEES SEAMEN
There was submitted Agenda Note AN240-2014 intimating that there were a number of Memorials to the City's Fallen of World War 1, the most notable being the City Cenotaph on the Law, the Memorial to the 4th and 4th/5th Black Watch in Dundee Parish Church (St Mary's) and the Memorial on the Frigate Unicorn, however there was currently no Memorial to the 4,000 Royal Navy, Naval Reserve, Volunteer Reserve, Air Service, Merchant Navy and others from Dundee associated with the sea who served in World War 1, of whom over 300 died.
It was proposed to provide such a Memorial in Dundee Parish Church (St Mary's) incorporating the Council's Coat of Arms.
The City Council agreed to the use of the Council's Coat of Arms in the Memorial.
