The Convener and Committee paid tribute to Michael Wood, Executive Director Children and Families Service upon his retiral and wished him well for the future.

II RESERVED SPACES IN SCHOOLS 2017/2018

 

There was submitted Report No 75-2017 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service where reference was made to Article V of the minute of meeting of the Education Committee of 19th February, 2001, where approval was given to retain reserved places in certain schools to accommodate children moving into the catchment area during the school year. The Executive Director of Children and Families Service was required to review the allocation of places on an annual basis and proposed an allocation of reserved places for session 2017/2018.

 

The Committee approved the proposals to reserve places in schools for session 2017/2018 as set out in Appendix I of the report noted below:-

III SCOTTISH CHILD ABUSE INQUIRY

 

There was submitted Report No 74-2017 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service providing information on the terms of reference of the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry and progress to date.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i) noted the potential implications of the Inquiry for the Council;

 

(ii) endorsed the arrangements that were in place through the Child Protection Committee to respond to these implications; and

 

(iii) instructed the Executive Director of Children and Families to report back on any emerging local issues.
