I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

II CORPORATE PARENTING

 

On a reference to Article III of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 29th October, 2018, there was submitted Report No 359-2019 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Services providing the second 12 month update on the implementation of the Corporate Parenting Plan for Looked After Children and Care Leavers. The report described significant progress being made in the development of support and improvement of outcomes for care experienced children and young people and outlined key priorities over the following 12 months.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to note the significant continued progress being made in the implementation of the Corporate Parenting Plan and improved outcomes for Looked After Children and Care Leavers; and

 

(ii) to instruct the Executive Director of Children and Families Services to provide a further update on Corporate Parenting in 12 months.

 

III PUPIL EQUITY FUND UPDATE

 

On a reference to Article V of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 25th June, 2018, there was submitted Report No 295-2019 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Services providing an update as to the use of the Pupil Equity Fund (PEF).

 

The Committee agreed to note the contents of the report.

 

IV PROVISION OF FREE SANITARY PRODUCTS IN SCHOOLS

 

On a reference to Article II of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 14th May, 2018, there was submitted Report No 361-2019 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Services reporting that the Scottish Government had committed to providing access to free sanitary products to pupils in schools to support equality, dignity and rights for those who menstruated. The report outlined the progress made on the delivery of provision of free sanitary products in schools and sought approval to roll out the new collaborative pan-Tayside service delivery model with Tayside Contracts, building on the commitment made by the Scottish Government to increase the number and range of places where free sanitary products were available for those who needed them, including Community Facilities, such as sport centres, libraries, community centres and museums.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to note the contents of the report;

 

(ii) to approve the roll out to all schools and instruct the Executive Director of Children and Families Services to continue to monitor the implementation of the proposals; and

 

(iii) to remit the Executive Director of Children and Families Services to submit a further report on progress in 12 months time.
