I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

II PROVISION OF FREE PERIOD PRODUCTS IN SCHOOLS

 

On a reference to Article IV of the minute of the meeting of this Committee of 26th October, 2020, there was submitted Report No 339-2021 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service outlining the requirements on both schools and local authorities to implement the Period Products in Schools (Scotland) Regulations 2020 and the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021, and, specifically, the progress made on the delivery of provision of free period products in schools in Dundee.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i) noted the content of the report;

 

(ii) noted the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021 and requirements placed on local authorities; and

 

(iii) noted the consultations underway to help develop future delivery of free period products.

 

At this juncture, external members of the Committee departed.

 

III YOUNG CARERS

 

There was submitted Report No 290-2021 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service providing an update of progress made in the last year on the Councils continued support to Young Carers, including how support had been adapted during the Covid-19 pandemic. It also outlined the revised strategy, A Caring Dundee 2 2021/2024, which was approved by the Integration Joint Board on 27th October, 2021.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i)                            noted the continued progress made in supporting Young Carers as detailed in Appendix 2 to the report over the last 12 months;

 

(ii)                           noted and approved the revised Strategy - A Caring Dundee 2 2021/2024, (Appendix 3 to the report), for their interest. The revised Strategy was also approved by the Integration Joint Board on 27th October, 2021; and

 

(iii)                          instructed the Executive Director of Children and Families Service to provide a further update report on the implementation of A Caring Dundee 2 in 12 months.

 

IV VALEDICTORY

 

The Convener, on behalf of the Committee, paid tribute to Paul Clancy, Executive Director of Children and Families Service, upon his retiral later this month and wished him well for the future.
