I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

II PROGRESS: SENIOR PHASE - LEAVERS UPDATE

 

There was submitted Report No 148-2023 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service, providing information on the attainment of S4 to S6 school leavers in academic session 2021/2022 and Senior phase attainment data for S4 to S6 school leavers in academic session 2021/2022 which had been extracted from the national Insight Senior Phase Benchmarking Tool, which was updated on 28th February, 2023.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) to instruct the Executive Director of Children and Families Service to provide an update in twelve months regarding the attainment of the S4 to S6 cohort in academic session 2022/2023.

 

III CLOSURE OF LAW NURSERY - OUTCOME OF FORMAL CONSULTATION

 

On a reference to Article IV of the minute of meeting of this Committee held on 31st October 2022, there was submitted Report No 149-2023 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service, containing the formal Consultation Report, in terms of the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010, on the proposal for closure of Law Nursery.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to note the contents of the report;

 

(ii) to note the accompanying Consultation Report, including the report by His Majestys Inspectorate of Education Scotland (HMIE) on the proposal;

 

(iii) to approve the proposal to close Law Nursery;

 

(iv) to instruct the Executive Director of Children and Families Service to ensure continued support was provided to staff, parents/carers and children through the changes that may result from the closure of Law Nursery;

 

(v) to instruct the Executive Director of Children and Families Service to ensure engagement continued with parents/carers to provide reassurance regarding any concerns in relation to the capacity of Early Learning and Childcare provision;

 

(vi) to instruct the Executive Director of Children and Families Service to proceed with the proposal; and

 

(vii) to instruct the Executive Director of Children and Families Service to ensure notification was provided to Scottish Ministers within six working days should the decision be made to implement the closure proposal and to publish on the website the fact that Scottish Ministers had been notified of this decision.
