I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

II EDUCATION (SCOTLAND) ACT 1980 - APPEAL COMMITTEE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN19-2023 advising that it had been necessary to seek nominations for an additional Chair of the Appeal Committee.

 

The Head of Democratic and Legal Services advised that the undernoted was recommended for appointment with immediate effect for the remainder of the lifetime of the present Council:-

 

Mrs Anne Leary.

 

The Committee approved the above.

 

III PROGRESS - ACHIEVEMENT OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WITH ADDITIONAL SUPPORT NEEDS

 

There was submitted Report No 186-2023 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service, providing information on the profile of additional support needs (ASN) in Dundee and how progress was measured; and, providing an update on the attainment and achievement of some of our children and young people with complex ASN.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to note that the recommendations from the Morgan Review (the Additional Support for Learning Review) and subsequent national Additional Support for Learning action plan had informed planning in the Children and Families Service;

 

(ii) to note the attainment and achievement of our children and young people with complex ASN, as detailed in Appendices 1 to 6 of the report; and

 

(iii) to instruct the Executive Director of Children and Families Service to keep the implementation and outcomes of approaches to supporting children and young people with additional support needs under review and to provide an update report to Committee in 12 months.

 

IV SCHOOL TERMS AND HOLIDAYS - 2025-2026 AND 2026-2027

 

There was submitted Report No 187-2023 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service, seeking approval of the scheme for school terms and holidays for sessions 2025/2026 and 2026/2027.

 

The Committee agreed to note and approve the scheme of school terms and holidays for sessions 2025/2026 and 2026/2027, as detailed in Appendix 1 of the report.
