I INWARD INVESTMENT SUPPORT

The Director of Economic Development reported that the City Council had been approached by Scottish Enterprise Tayside for financial assistance toward inward investment projects, the sum requested being 250,000 which could be met from the 2000/2001 allocation for the Economic Development Company.

The Committee approved the request subject to the requisite inward investment project(s) proceeding.

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1973 that the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

On a reference to Article VIII of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 8th November, 1999 the Director of Economic Development submitted Report No. 489-2000 advising Members of the final negotiations with the owners in relation to Camperdown Leisure Park.

The Committee agreed to note that the terms as detailed had been approved as an urgent matter after consultation with the Convener and the appropriate spokespersons from the Opposition Groups.

V CITY SQUARE COMPLEX - CHRISTMAS LIGHTS 2000/01

The Director of Economic Development submitted details of the proposed works for the Christmas illuminations throughout the City.

The Committee approved the proposals which included new lighting to Reform Street, installation of white pea-lights to a large number of City Centre trees, specialist floodlighting for City Square fountains, gazebo and the Murraygate dragon and new festive lighting being installed in Lochee and Broughty Ferry, all to be carried out by Dundee Contract Services in terms of the report.
