I CAPITAL EXPENDITURE MONITORING 2000/2001
After considering Report No 608-2000 by the Director of Finance appraising the members of the latest position regarding the Council's expenditure programme for 2000/2001, the Committee noted the contents of the report.
II REVENUE EXPENDITURE MONITORING 2000/2001
There was submitted Report No 621-2000 by the Director of Finance providing members with an analysis of the 2000/20001 projected revenue outturn as at 31st August, 2000 monitored against the adjusted 2000/2001 Revenue Budget.
The Committee instructed the Director of Finance, in consultation with all Chief Officers of the Council to continue to monitor the Council's 2000/2001 projected revenue outturn and to use his best endeavours to ensure that the final outturn for the financial year was as close to the approved Revenue Budget as possible.
In addition, the Committee noted that the overall General Fund 2000/2001 projected revenue outturn as at 31st August, 2000 showed an overspend of 311,000 against the adjusted 2000/2001 Revenue Budget and that the Housing Revenue Account projected a 2000/2001 spend in line with budget.
III PROJECTED EXPENDITURE ON RESIDENTIAL AND SECURE PLACEMENTS IN SETTINGS OUTSIDE DUNDEE IN 2000/2001
There was submitted Report No 663-2000 by the Director of Finance outlining the estimated financial outturn on the Residential and Secure Placements revenue budget for children and young people in the financial year 2000/2001.
The Committee:-
(i) noted the contents and future actions outlined in the report;
(ii) instructed the Chief Executive to write to the Scottish Executive advising them of the significant increase in the number of children requiring to be placed in residential settings and the corresponding increase in funding required from the local authority; and
(iii) instructed the Director of Finance to ensure that the Provisional Revenue Budget 2001/02 had sufficient provision for the projected level of expenditure on Residential and Secure Placements.
IV RELIEF OF RATES - CHARITY RELIEF
There was submitted Report No 618-2000 by the Director of Finance seeking authorisation to grant charity relief on the undernoted non-domestic properties. The Committee approved accordingly.
