I VISUAL ARTS AWARDS SCHEME

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No.322-2000 seeking the Committee's agreement to the establishment of a Visual Arts Awards Scheme for Dundee.

 

The Committee agreed to the establishment of the Scheme as outlined in the Report and agreed to delegate authority for the making of awards to the Director of Arts and Heritage in conjunction with the Visual Arts Awards Scheme Panel.

 

II PROPOSED SCOTTISH NATIONAL THEATRE

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No.254-2000 outlining proposals for the development of a Scottish National Theatre and considering support for its potential location in Dundee.

 

The Committee supported the proposals to develop the Scottish National Theatre and remitted to the Director of Arts and Heritage to explore further the potential location of the Scottish National Theatre administrative base in Dundee.

 

III DEVELOPMENT OF A CULTURAL STRATEGY FOR DUNDEE

 

On a reference to Articles I and II of the minute of meting of this Committee of 19th January, 1998 the Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No.321-2000 seeking the Committee's agreement to the development of a Cultural Strategy for Dundee which would replace and revise the Arts Action Plan and Heritage Action Plan 1998/2000.

 

The Committee remitted to the Director of Arts and Heritage to develop a Cultural Strategy for Dundee.

 

IV MUSIC PLUS

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No.319-2000 advising the Committee on the success of the first year of Music Plus and putting forward plans for activity for 2000.

 

The Committee noted the success of Music Plus to date and agreed the proposals for future work.

 

V DUNDEE JAZZ FESTIVAL 2000 GRANT

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No.320-2000 seeking approval to award a grant to Assembly Direct towards the cost of programming Dundee Jazz Festival which would take place from 30th May to 4th June, 2000.

 

The Committee authorised the payment of the grant of 4750.
