More Dundee pupils than ever are leaving school to go on to positive destinations, national figures show.

City Council education convener Councillor Stewart Hunter is welcoming the further rise confirmed in statistics released by Skills Development Scotland.

The figure of 93.5 % positive is an increase of 2.2% on last year.

Councillor Hunter said: “I am pleased to see this trend continuing for our young people after they leave school.

“I am determined that even more pupils can go on to positive destinations in the years ahead.

“This is why our schools are working hard to raise attainment and prepare pupils for the challenges they will face when they leave school.

“I am always very impressed by the dedication and commitment shown by school staff in this effort to help pupils plan for their future.”
