Council Tax Phone Scam Warning

Council Tax Phone Scam Warning Image

Dundee residents are being warned about the latest phone scam operating in the city.

The council has been contacted by an individual who received a phone call claiming that Dundee Council tax have had them on the wrong band and they are owed up to £7000 back.

It is claimed that all the individual needs to do is give their bank details over the phone for a refund.

The call was received from the number 0333 006 2254.

Dundee City Council would like to stress that the call and number has nothing to do with genuine council tax collection.

The council does not call customers to advise they are due a refund and to ask to disclose their bank details.

The city council’s trading standards service can be called for advice on 01382 436260.
