FREE ENTERTAINMENT and activities for all ages will be on offer this weekend at the city’s very own gala in the garden.

Barnhill Rock Garden will play host to the celebration of local groups, societies and entertainment.

Kevin Cordell convener of Dundee City Council’s neighbourhood services committee said: “This is a great celebration that highlights the wide range of activities and environments on offer in the city.

“Alternating as it does between Barnhill and Duntrune Demonstration Garden it offers people a chance to see and experience for themselves some of the great work put in by council staff and volunteers at these venues.”

The programme will feature live music from 44th Dundee Boys Brigade Pipe Band, Inchcape Ceilidh Band, Tay Ukes and Dundee Instrumental Band, plus a traditional dance display by Dance Ihayami.

Children’s entertainment includes face painting by Dirtifaces Face Painters, balloon modelling from Talented Ted, a story telling hut by Blether Tay Gither and the Countryside Rangers will have a range of activities.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will be bringing a fire engine and there will be a range of horticultural and nature themed stalls.

Refreshments will be available to purchase throughout the day.

The Gala in the Garden takes place on Saturday (July 8) between 12 noon and 4pm at Barnhill Rock Garden.
