Welcome for bus changes30/10/17
CHANGES TO bus services in two Dundee communities have been welcomed by a leading councillor.
Mark Flynn depute convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee has backed changes to services travelling through Dryburgh and Lochee.
He said: “I am pleased to see that Stagecoach service 57/59 which operates between Dundee and Blairgowrie/Coupar Angus is changing on November 20.
“Among other things it means that the frequency is increasing to a bus half hourly between the city centre, Lochee, Dryburgh and Birkhill.
“In addition the company has also agreed to use Lochee High Street/Bank Street on both inward and outward journeys which will offer more connections for the area’s shops and businesses.”
However residents will face disruption to bus services for the next eight weeks while Coupar Angus Road is closed northbound by Scotland Gas Networks as they renew mains in the area.
Stagecoach services to East Perthshire will divert via Kings Cross Road and Dunsinane Avenue before re-joining Coupar Angus Road.
Xplore Dundee number four will serve Linton Road from the north end but the company will not be running the Outer Circle to Dryburgh in the evenings and Sundays.
Cllr Flynn added: “Essential works to utility services are a fact of life and I know that every company tries to keep disruption to a minimum.
“In this case bus users in Dryburgh and Lochee can at least look forward to improvements in the services they rely on before the end of the year.”
