Car park congestion conclusion24/10/19
A CAR PARK in a Dundee community could be changed to variable stay to meet the needs of local businesses and residents.
The facility, in Orleans Place, Menzieshill has been the subject of complaints when its 65 spaces are taken up by people leaving their cars there all day.
Drivers will be charged £1 for two to four hours and £2 for four to 10 hours Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm, and on Sundays between 1pm and 6pm but vehicles displaying a valid Blue Badge or a Menzieshill Resident Permit will not be liable to the charge or time period.
Alan Ross convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee said: “This has been an increasingly big issue for people who live and run businesses in that part of Menzieshill and the solution that is being brought forward should go a long way to addressing their concerns.
“It is balanced with an opportunity for visitors to park for more than two hours when visiting friends and family inside the residents’ permit zone.”
Under the proposals, to be brought to the city development committee on Monday (October 28), vehicles will be required to display a ticket from a parking meter or record a session via the Just Park app.
The £10,000 cost of bringing in the measures will be met from the income from future charges.
