A community planting event for local primary school children and members of the community took place today (Thurs 31st Mar) to help plant bulbs, shrubs and sow wildflower seed at the new Douglas Community Park.

The event took place to promote the Community Park, which is nearing completion and to encourage the use of its facilities when ready.

Local children were given the opportunity to learn about planting and were the first to set foot in the park.

The Community Park is being delivered by Contractors TN Gilmartin, after a collaborative partnership between the Douglas Community Spaces Group and Dundee City Council, with funding made available through the Big Lottery Fund’s ‘Our Place’ funding programme.

The new park’s facilities will include seating, a network of new accessible paths, tree planting areas (including biodiversity planting and shrubs), decking bio-swale crossings, and a play park.
