Dundee City Council will hold a Four-Legged Friends event at Templeton Woods on Monday (18th July) as part of its ongoing Take Pride in Your City campaign.

The event aims to bring together dog walkers, cyclists and horse riders to talk about each of their different needs in order to access the wooded area safely.

As part of the event, council Animal Control staff, an Outdoor Access Officer, and Countryside Rangers will also be present in order to give further advice on how best to enjoy Dundee’s green spaces in a responsible way.

Templeton Woods previously suffered significant storm damage, however paths are open for members of the public to safely navigate it again.

Neighbourhood Services Convener Councillor Heather Anderson said: “We are lucky to have Templeton Woods and it’s a great place to explore by foot, by bike or on horseback, if you are able to.

“These events have been successful in the past at bringing together different users of Templeton Woods and share ideas with others who regularly share the same paths in the same outdoor space.”

Horse riders from Muirhead Stables will be riding in Templeton Woods during the planned Four-Legged Friends event, and dog walkers, walkers & cyclists can meet with the horses and riders in a relaxed and informal way.

Take Pride in Your Woodland is a community campaign which aims to encourage everybody to take pride in Dundee and make the city’s woodlands welcoming spaces.

The "Four-Legged Friends" event is free and will run from 1pm to 3pm at Templeton Woods Visitor Centre, Templeton Rd, on Monday 18th July.

Dog training classes are also available from training clubs available on the council website's list of organisations.
