Budget Agreed for Health and Social Care

The Dundee Health and Social Care Integration Joint Board (IJB) agreed its budget for the coming year at its meeting today (Wed March 29).
A total of £284.1m will be spent on service delivery in 2023/24, an increase of £4.5m on last year’s figure.
Councillor Ken Lynn, Dundee City Council’s lead spokesperson for Health and Social Care and Vice Chair of the IJB said “I am pleased that we are protecting front line services at a very challenging time and being prudent in our use of reserves.
“In addition, we have received funding from the Scottish Government to ensure that our lowest paid employees in social care receive a higher guaranteed minimum salary, up from £10.50 to £10.90 per hour. These workers are the backbone of the services we provide.
“We also approved the Mental Health and Learning Disability Improvement Plan. This is a hugely important piece of work and comes at a time when we are about to open the new Community Wellbeing Centre which will provide a centrally based service around the clock for anyone in distress.”
