Positive Inspection Report for Dundee School

Longhaugh Primary School has been rated ‘good’ for ‘learning, teaching and assessment’ and ‘good’ for ‘raising attainment and achievement’ following a recent inspection.
Inspectors from Education Scotland carried out a visit in December 2023 and praised the staff for their efforts to improve the experiences and outcomes for pupils.
The staff’s use of data to plan interventions and improve progress of individuals and groups who needed help with their learning was highlighted.
In addition, the inspection report noted that children who face barriers to their learning are making substantial progress.
The report noted that senior leaders and staff model positive relationships and that children learn in a nurturing, safe and supportive environment, whilst also noting that the school values are well understood and evident in all aspects of school life. This ensures that children can learn and achieve across the school and make good progress in literacy and numeracy.
Inspectors noted that the school should continue to improve children’s progress in all curricular areas.
Children, Families and Communities Convener Stewart Hunter said: “This is a positive report highlighting some good areas of innovative work the school is doing to work with young people to ensure they get the help and support they need.
“We are all striving to improve the lives of our young people and this report shows the high standard and aspirations staff have for all children.
“I want to praise the staff at the school who provide a nurturing and caring environment for our young people.
“We understand that there is still more we can do, and we will support the school to make improvements set out in the report.”
