Environmental Improvements to be Considered

Over £170,000 worth of environmental improvements are being proposed for parks and green spaces across Dundee.
Areas of the city which could benefit from the investment are:
Baxter Park Bowling Green – Fencing
Removal of existing hedge and replacement with slower-growing new hedge and fencing to allow Baxter Park Bowling Club to easily maintain going forward.
Templeton Woods access improvements
Resurfacing works to the visitor car park in Templeton Woods to rectify potholes and uneven ground.
Allotment Security
Kinnaird Allotments: Provision of new metal boom gate and posts at entrance road.
Ancrum Allotments: Provision of new metal palisade security gate, posts and bracing.
The Law Allotments: Replacing and repairing timber fence panels and posts.
Dudhope Park Path / Therapy Garden
Re-surfacing path to therapy garden from St Mary’s Place in Dudhope Park, to ensure safe access for all.
Take Pride Phase 3 -Improvements to Park Signage
Refresh of noticeboards across the city’s open spaces, including replacement and rationalisation of signage to provide a more consistent and inviting welcome to park visitors.
The programme will be considered by the Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure Committee at its next meeting.
Committee convener Councillor Steven Rome said: “The planned works outline a variety of improvements to outdoor assets throughout the city. We want people to be able to enjoy open spaces in Dundee and make these areas sustainable for the future.”
Climate, Environment and Biodiversity convener Councillor Heather Anderson added: “Everything we do to support people to enjoy our green spaces strengthens their connection with nature and makes them feel better about where they live. It is good to see these individual improvements going ahead.”
The committee meets on Monday September 23, 2024.
