Dundee city centre is gearing up for a bumper pre-Christmas weekend.

With the Christmas Village now established in City Square, people will also have the chance to enjoy the free Dundee Hooley when it returns on Sunday (December 1).

City Council leader Cllr Mark Flynn visited the Christmas Village to discuss the attraction’s impact with operators NL Productions.

He said: “I am impressed by the operation of Dundee’s Christmas. It is great to see how this is already attracting people into the city centre, which gives a boost to our retail economy

“I am sure that the combination of attractions at the village and the Dundee Hooley will really make it a weekend to remember.”

A Festive Extravaganza for All Ages, Dundee’s Christmas Village features a host of festive attractions including a 20m x 10m real ice rink, a Christmas Market, an immersive Santa Experience and a funfair.

Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure convener Cllr Steven Rome added: “We are determined to make Dundee city centre as attractive as possible for visitors and locals alike.

“I am pleased to see the enthusiastic response to Dundee’s Christmas so far, and I am sure this will continue in the countdown to the big day and into the new year.”

Jonathan Brown of NL Productions said: We have been absolutely delighted with the fantastic turnout for the opening weekend of Dundee’s Christmas celebrations.

“The Christmas Village is in full swing and has welcomed thousands of visitors so far, and it’s wonderful to see so many people enjoying the festive atmosphere.
