Lochee Ward Community Clean-Up
Council teams carried out additional environmental works in the Lochee, Menzieshill and Charleston areas of the city this week as part of the city’s wide-ranging Take Pride in Your City campaign.
The three-day Community Clean-Up saw Council employees clear litter & debris, strim vegetation from building and fence lines, tidy up communal areas where required, and carry out mechanical and manual sweeping of paths & street areas.
Residents made good use of skips available for the safe disposal of unwanted household items with Environmental staff on hand to assist and answer questions about how best to recycle and dispose of waste appropriately.
Climate, Environment & Biodiversity Convener Cllr Heather Anderson said: “Here, in the Council, we know that keeping on top of litter in Dundee is a full-time job and we can only achieve this with the support of the public, community groups and local businesses.
“The Take Pride in Your City campaign brings together all these different stakeholders to achieve that goal, and we also focus on specific communities to increase engagement in this shared work.
“Our now regular Community Clean-ups are one way of us bringing together community groups and residents in the area we’ve focussing on to make a real difference.”
Community Clean-Ups are now commonplace in the city and have been carried out in various neighbourhoods with more planned for the future.
Information about future community clean-ups is communicated directly to local residents shortly before taking place.
