Challenge Poverty Week 2025

A range of activities, information sessions and events, hosted by the Council and its partners, are taking place across Dundee in support of Challenge Poverty Week.
The campaign, running from 6-12 October, aims to highlight that too many people are living in poverty, and to showcase the positive action being taken to address this.
Activities include a photo exhibition showcasing the work and voices of the Dundee Fairness Leadership Panel at Central Library, a Poverty Lecture & Discussion hosted in the City Chambers for key stakeholders, a fundraising event with Fans Supporting Foodbanks Dundee, and many other drop-ins and open doors throughout the city with a focus on challenging poverty.
You can follow everything that is happening on the Council’s social media channels or look at the events calendar.
Council spokesperson for Fairness and Wellbeing, Councillor Siobhan Tolland, said: “Challenging poverty is something that we should be doing every day of the year.
“However, I am proud that the Council and partners are once again raising awareness and supporting this campaign.
“Due to the rise in the cost of living, paying for essentials such as food, clothing and household bills can be difficult and out of reach for many people in our city. It’s important then that we promote the existing services that are here to offer help and support, and that is what this week is all about.
“Helping those in need, challenging stigma and showing compassion this week will hopefully amplify the voices of those who have lived experience and highlight support and help to drive meaningful change across Dundee and the rest of the country.
“I look forward to visiting some of the events and following what else is happening online.”
