Accreditation Secured as Events Take Place in Dundee for Living Wage Week 2025

Dundee City Council is once again celebrating Living Wage Week with activities taking place in the city and by welcoming another employer to the Dundee Living Wage family
Living Wage Week is a campaign dedicated to celebrating the Living Wage movement and looks to encourage businesses to become accredited Living Wage employers.
Recently it was announced that there will be a 6.7% rise in the real Living Wage making the new rate £13.45, an 80p increase. There are over 120 Living Wage accredited employers headquartered in Dundee collectively employing over 42,000 thousand workers.
Joining the accredited employers in city are Tender Pro Consultancy. Based at the DunEden business centre in the Dryburgh industrial estate, they provided expert bid writing services to help other companies win contracts through tenders. They offer services ranging from initial registration and profile optimization to fully managed bid writing and submission.
City Growth and Infrastructure Convener Steven Rome recently visited their offices with members of the Dundee Living Wage Action Group to congratulate them and present them with a certificate.
He said: “I’m delighted to welcome Tender Pro Consultancy to Dundee’s Living Wage family and to congratulate them on achieving their accreditation. It’s great to see another local business showing real commitment to fair pay, especially during Living Wage Week which I’m proud that the council is once again supporting.
“The discussions we had about encouraging the businesses they work with to also seek Living Wage accreditation will be incredibly valuable in helping to spread our message even further across the city.”
Speaking about accreditation Directors Rebecca Todd and Alex Whelan said: “Paying the real Living Wage is a promise we make to our team and our community. We’re a small, growing business, and fair pay helps us sleep at night, do our best work, and build the kind of workplace we’re proud of.
“In our bid work, we’re open about this: we always encourage clients to gain Living Wage Employer accreditation because it genuinely strengthens a bid, showing fair work and real social value. If you’re in Dundee and on the fence, we’d love to see more neighbours join in. It lifts people, supports local business, and makes all of us better partners.”
During the week there will be various events including a business coffee morning, a Living Wage football competition hosted by the Change Centre, on Wednesday, between Dundee FC & Dundee United community trusts and engagement with accredited businesses with the new Dundee Living Wage branding.
The Living Wage Scotland Awards 2025 take place on Thursday 13 November in Edinburgh. The awards celebrate individuals and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to the Living Wage movement. This year Dundee is represented in the Local Champion Award category by Kanzen For Lifefor their work in using physical activity to inspire and promote wellbeing and education. The category recognizes individuals or organizations making a significant contribution to the Living Wage movement in their local area.
Councillor Steven Rome added: “I’m really pleased to see Kanzen For Life nominated in the Local Champion category at the Living Wage Scotland Awards. They do fantastic work using physical activity to boost wellbeing and support learning, and it’s great to see that effort being recognised. Their dedication to fairness, opportunity, and helping people thrive is a real asset to our community.”
Despite recent challenges with closures in the city, due to various factors seen across the country, there are still businesses coming forward to become a Living Wage employer and with the new Living Wage Action Plan, the action group are positive that there is still more businesses on the cusp of accreditation.
Councillor Rome co-chairs the group and speaking about the current situation in Dundee he said: “I know it’s a challenging time for many businesses, but I’d really encourage anyone interested in the advantages of accreditation to reach out to Living Wage Scotland for help and advice. I’m also so proud of the fantastic work the Living Wage Action Group does as they are always on hand to offer support to help you become a Living Wage accredited employer.”
