Dundee Get Together

More details about a summer event celebrating Dundee's cultural diversity and promoting a message of kindness and tolerance have been revealed.
The city will gather this summer for the ‘Dundee Get Together’ - a vibrant event taking place in City Square on Saturday 13 June from 3-6pm.
The event will feature a lively programme of free activities for all ages. It includes a Dundee Kindness exhibition created in collaboration with school pupils across the city and a colourful parade showcasing local community groups and cultures, as well as music, dancing and refreshments.
Local community groups, charities third sector organisation, dance troupes, youth clubs, sports clubs or individuals are being invited to take part in the Dundee Get Together Parade. The parade looks to highlight those in our city who help build community, create connections and bring people together across Dundee.
The tagline for the event is “Celebrating Kindness” and it is hoped that both participants and onlookers will see the positive impact of coming together to help create a more welcoming city - one where everyone feels safe, respected and supported.
The Lord Provost of Dundee, Bill Campbell, met with school pupils in City Square today to announce the name of the event.
He said: “I’m delighted that I will be attending the Dundee Get Together in June and celebrating the kindness, diversity and community spirit that make our city so special.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity to bring people together, showcase the incredible work of local groups and highlight the welcoming and inclusive nature of Dundee.
“I would encourage everyone to come along, get involved and be part of what promises to be a fantastic afternoon for all.”
Those interested in taking part are being asked to fill out an online form. More details can be found on the council’s website.
A working group made up of schools, community groups and representatives from across Dundee is heavily involved in creating the finalised programme. Further information about the event will to be shared in the coming weeks.
