Tay Road Bridge maintenance works

Tay Road Bridge

DRIVERS using the Tay Road Bridge over the coming months have been warned of planned closures for essential maintenance works.

A series of short-term bridge closures in the early hours of the morning will allow safe access to the bridge columns to renew parts of the cathodic protection system.

The bridge will close to all traffic at twenty past midnight and open again at 5am. The walkway will remain open and blue light emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Closure dates are:

  • Tuesday 14 April;
  • Wednesday 15 April;
  • Wednesday 22 April;
  • Thursday 23 April;
  • Tuesday 5 May;
  • Wednesday 6 May;
  • Tuesday 19 May;
  • Wednesday 20 May;
  • Tuesday 2 June;
  • Wednesday 3 June;
  • Tuesday 9 June;
  • Wednesday 10 June;
  • Tuesday 23 June; and
  • Wednesday 24 June.

Cathodic protection is a way of stopping the corrosion of steel reinforcement embedded in concrete by applying a small electrical current.
