Baxter Park play area upgraded

Upgrades to Baxter Park’s play park have officially been completed with the local community coming together for the reopening of the space.
The improved play area, designed by the Council’s Environment and Open Space teams, now features a fantasy village theme providing a space for children to explore, create and problem solve which helps to develop crucial cognitive, social and emotional skills.
Designs for the area have prioritised accessibility and inclusive play in order to meet the wide and varied needs of all children.
Depute Climate, Net Zero & Environment Convener Cllr Lee Mills said: “Our city’s play areas serve as vital spaces for encouraging children to get outdoors and bringing the many health and wellbeing benefits that come with that.
“Baxter Park is a popular location, and I’m pleased to see this upgrade which provides a welcoming environment for children of all abilities to play together.”
Depute City Growth & Infrastructure Convener Cllr Siobhan Tolland said: “The investment made here at Baxter Park is part of our wider programme to create more inclusive and modern play areas for children to enjoy.
“During the design stage, sustainable sources for the play equipment were intentionally chosen, using FSC certified timber with its long lifespan which reduces the frequency of replacements required.”
A tender for the works from Dundee Plant was approved by the Council’s Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure Committee in August 2025.
