Annual Gas Appliance Servicing – Appointment Information
Dundee City Council is legally required to service gas appliances in Council properties every year. If your home has a Council-supplied gas appliance, such as a gas boiler or gas fire, we must carry out an annual service and safety check. This helps reduce the risk of breakdown and ensures appliances are operating safely, protecting households from dangers such as carbon monoxide.
To improve our service, we are moving to a new IT system. As part of this change, appointments will now be arranged automatically, and you will receive notification in advance confirming when a Council operative will attend to complete the service.
If we hold a mobile number for you, appointment details will be sent by text message. If we hold an email address, details will be sent by email. You will also receive a letter confirming the appointment date and time, along with guidance on what to do if the appointment is unsuitable. Reminders will also be issued in the period leading up to your appointment where contact details are available.
If the appointment time does not suit you, please contact us so we can rearrange it at a more convenient time. If you are not at home when we first attend, the appointment will automatically be rearranged, and you will receive another notification. If we still cannot gain access, we will attempt to contact you by other means, which may include telephone contact or visiting your property to agree a suitable appointment.
If access still cannot be arranged, a final appointment date and time will be issued. If you are not at home for this appointment and have not contacted us to rearrange, we will have no alternative but to gain access to the property in order to complete the service, as set out within your tenancy agreement.
It is extremely important that annual servicing is completed. Regular servicing reduces the risk of appliance failure and provides reassurance that your heating system has passed an essential safety check.
