Parent Services Development Work and Groups

Early Years Parent Development Officers
Two full-time Parent Development Officers, Linda Dempster and Dawn Banks are employed by Children and Families Service in the Early Years Team. Their role is to support the development and delivery of services for families with children under 5 years of age, focusing on supporting families to support their children's learning. The Parent Development Officers support early years staff in their work with families through mentoring, developing and delivering training. The development officers are also involved in the delivery of a small range of groups for Dundee families with young children. Examples of the types of the groups include:

PEEP Groups - promoting the role of parents and carers as their child’s first and most important educator. The PEEP programme focuses on how to make the most of learning opportunities in everyday life - listening, talking, playing and sharing books.

Support Groups - for example, Twins and Multiples Support Group, Kinship Carers Support Group and Jigsaw Group (a support group for families with children between birth and five years who have additional needs)

View up to date information about available groups at the Dundee Parenting Category on www.families.scot.
