Please make sure that you place the correct bin or bins at the kerbside by 7.30am on the collection day. The Council cannot commit to specific collection times, as routing schedules may change. Households should leave any unemptied bins at the collection point until the end of the collection day at 3.30pm. 

Reports of missed bins will only be accepted and logged after the end of the collection day. If a household calls to report a missed collection before the end of the working day, a customer service advisor will pass the information on to the area supervisor.

Residents are also asked to check their bin for an advisory notice, which will explain if there was a specific reason why a bin has not been emptied.

City Council’s Policy on Contamination of Household Recycling

If a collection is missed due to vehicle access problems (such as building works or road closures), crews will make two further attempts over the following two working days. If access is restricted on both further occasions, then the collection must wait until the next scheduled collection day.

Where crews are running behind (for example, due to a vehicle breakdown), the route will be completed as soon as possible. This may mean your bin will not be emptied until the following day.

Returning for recycling collections will be scheduled for the most appropriate day and time depending on service availability (this may not always be possible on the following day).

If refuse or recycling bins have not been emptied because they were presented late or in the incorrect location, households are asked to wait until the next scheduled collection before they are emptied. In these circumstances, households will be required to return the bins to their usual storage location until the next collection.

Our collection vehicles are fitted with external cameras. If a report is received of a missed bin, footage from these cameras may be reviewed to confirm that the bin was presented for collection in time for the collection vehicle arriving.
