Containers should be placed at the kerbside by 7.30am on collection day. The Council cannot commit to specific collection times as routing schedules may change. Households should leave any unemptied containers at the collection point until the end of the collection day at 3.30pm. If a household calls to report a missed collection prior to completion of the working day, initial notes shall be taken and contact shall be made with the crew carrying out that collection. However, the call shall not be logged as a ‘missed collection’ until the day’s work has been completed (i.e. after 3.30pm). Reports of missed containers shall only be accepted and reported after the end of the collection day.
In the event of a scheduled missed collection due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e. the whole street has been missed and a collection cannot be made due to access being restricted by vehicles, building works or road closures), then two further attempts on the next 2 working days will be made to make the domestic collection (in most cases this will be in the presence of a supervisor). If access is restricted on both further occasions then the collection must wait until the next scheduled collection. Returning for recycling collections will be scheduled for the most appropriate time depending on the refuse collection crew location (this may not be possible on the following day).
Where crews are running behind (e.g. due to a vehicle breakdown) the route will be completed as soon as practicable. This may mean your bin may not be emptied until the following day.
Where either refuse or recycling containers have not been emptied due to the waste being presented late or in the incorrect location, the household will be required to wait until the next programmed collection before it is removed. In these circumstances households will be required to return the refuse and or recycling containers to their property until the next collection.
