Dundee currently has two secondary schools in the east of the city (Braeview Academy and Craigie High School) in need of refurbishment and/or replacement. Tragically, Braeview Academy has recently lost approximately 50% of its current building through a significant fire. We wish to gather your views on options to improve educational/learning provision within the east of Dundee.
The map below shows the locations of Braeview Academy and Craigie High School together with the extent of their school catchment areas, outlined in blue. Highlighted in pink is a potential development site at Drumgeith Road.

Two options identified for improving educational/learning provision in the east of Dundee are:
- Reinstate Braeview Academy on its existing site and continue with the maintenance programme to Craigie High School with the potential, in the future, for refurbishment or replacement of both schools on their existing sites. This will depend on Dundee City Council’s future capital programme and Scottish Government Funding
- Closing both Braeview Academy and Craigie High School and creating a new single secondary school serving the east of Dundee located on the Drumgeith Road site highlighted on the map. This will also be dependent on Dundee City Council’s future capital programme and Scottish Government funding.
We are carrying out an initial informal consultation about this proposal. You can attend a public engagement meeting (details available here). We would also appreciate it if you took time to complete our brief questionnaire at the link below.
