When can I be married?

You are required to give at least 28 days notice of marriage to the Registrar. The Marriage Notice is valid for three months and you may be married at any point during this period, after the 28 days notice, assuming all the paperwork is in order. In Dundee you may choose to be married on any day of the year, including Saturdays, Sundays and ALL public holidays, including Christmas Day. You may also choose to hold your civil wedding at any time of day or night. Availability for civil weddings varies throughout Scotland however and some District Registration Offices may only be open on a part-time basis. In the larger towns and cities, however, you can normally arrange to be married at any time during normal office hours and also on a Saturday morning or afternoon.
