Noise

Sound is an integral element of our existence, whether through something we find enjoyable to simple communication, it is so often an acceptable, if not essential part of our daily lives. However, there can be little doubt that unwanted noise is not and can often lead to circumstances which people find irritating and often distressing.

Officers from the Community Safety and Protection team investigate complaints of noise arising from a variety of sources involving industrial and commercial units, construction/demolition sites, burglar alarms, fans, generators, barking dogs as well as musical entertainment within commercial premises.

If you are experiencing a problem with a neighbour causing noise you should in the first instance contact Police Scotland on their Non Emergency telephone number 101.

If you require advice regarding antisocial behaviour by a neighbour causing noise disturbance to you at home you may contact the Council's Antisocial Behaviour team on 0800 169 3845 or 01382 307342.
