Use of School Rooms and Meeting Rooms for Election Meeting

Rooms in Schools and other Council premises are available free of charge for candidates standing in elections in the City of Dundee. Whilst no charge is made for the let of the rooms candidates should note that they will have to pay any expenses in preparing, heating, lighting and cleaning the room, Stewarding at the meeting, restoring it to its usual condition after the meeting and any damage done to the room or furniture etc.

Reasonable notice must be given and due to the tight timescales involved in election campaigns a minimum of seven days’ notice is required. Candidates should note however that whilst they have a right to use the rooms in connection with their campaign this does not authorise any interference with the hours during which any room in school premises is used for educational purposes or any interference with the use of a meeting room either for the purposes of the person maintaining it or under a prior agreement for  its letting for any purpose.

Candidates will also be asked to complete a letting application form and will require to comply with any conditions in the letting agreement. For bookings and further information candidates should contact the department concerned as indicated below.
