III McMANUS CATERING FRANCHISE, McMANUS GALLERIES, ALBERT SQUARE
It was reported that the catering franchise at McManus Galleries had been run as the Cafe in the Square by various operators over the past three years but the latest tenderers had experienced difficulties in maintaining financial viability and closed down on Sunday, 4th November, 2001.
An approach had been made to a local operator who had proved successful in a catering service environment and who already had links with the City Council. The Chief Executive had agreed that special circumstances existed to proceed without the need for advertisement.
The Committee therefore approved the above operator being offered the lease and remitted to the Director of Economic Development and the Director of Support Services to conclude the arrangements.
CHARLES FARQUHAR, Convener.
