I THE ROYAL SCOTTISH SOCIETY OF PAINTERS IN WATERCOLOUR

 

The Director of Leisure and Arts submitted Report No 874-2002 informing the Committee of the forthcoming exhibition "The 123rd Annual Exhibition of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, 2003".

 

The Committee noted the report.

 

II DAWSON PARK ENTRANCE IMPROVEMENTS

 

The Director of Leisure and Arts submitted Report No 875-2002 seeking approval for Dundee Contract Services to undertake improvements to Dawson Park including the Park's entrance, signage and railings.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer from Dundee Contract Services for improvement works amounting to 43,500 inclusive of contingencies.

 

III CAMPERDOWN HOUSE EXTERNAL REPAINTERWORK - CAPITAL EXPENDITURE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN335-2002 advising that a quotation had been received from Dundee Contract Services to carry out repainting external windows and frames and the sash cord mechanisms for the sum of 4,551.99.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the quotation and noted that this was the second instalment of a planned phased programme of external repainterwork for the house to be completed during the current financial year.

 

IV MILLS OBSERVATORY DEVELOPMENT

 

The Director of Leisure and Arts submitted Report No 877-2002 seeking approval for capital expenditure.

 

The Committee agreed to proceed with the above works on the basis that procurement of consultants, contractors and suppliers would be by competitive tendering where a market for such existed, or from specialist suppliers as appropriate, in line with Best Value procedures.

V COUNCIL GOLF COMPETITIONS FOR 2003

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN336-2002.

 

The Committee agreed that the priority of the courses be granted in connection with the undernoted Council's Sponsored Golf Competitions organised by the Leisure and Arts Department for various dates during 2003:-

VI CAMPERDOWN COUNTRY PARK STABLES

 

On a reference to Article IV of the minute of meeting of the Leisure Services Committee of 17th December, 2001, the Director of Leisure and Arts submitted Report No 879-2002 seeking approval from the Committee to investigate the feasibility of converting Camperdown Stables to provide a Cycle Centre within Camperdown Country Park.

 

The Committee authorised the Director of Leisure and Arts to bring forward proposals for the conversion of Camperdown Stables to a Cycling for All facility providing a base for a cycle hire outlet for use by the disabled along with the provision of disabled toilets.

VII DOUGLAS SPORTS CENTRE LOCKER REPLACEMENT

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN337-2002 advising that a quotation had been received from a specialist contractor, Prospect Limited, Rotherham, for the supply and installation of lockers at Douglas Sports Centre.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the quotation amounting to 8,005 for seventy five lockers of various styles for public use.

 

VIII TRAILHEAD NOTICE BOARD IMPROVEMENTS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN338-2002 advising that an offer had been received from Dundee Contract Services amounting to 1,925.21 to carry out improvements to the Trailhead Notice Boards along the Green Circular Pathway.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer.

 

IX TENDERS RECEIVED

 

The City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 888-2002 giving details of an offer amounting to 7,440 received from Chillforce Ltd for the installation of air conditioning units to the fitness room at Lochee Leisure Centre.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Chillforce Ltd amounting to 7,440 to which required to be added an allowance of 1,255 for professional services making a total expenditure of 8,695.

 

X BROUGHTY FERRY YELLOW AND BLUE FLAG INITIATIVE

 

On a reference to Article II of the Policy and Resources Committee of 9th September, 2002, the Director of Leisure and Arts submitted Report No 882-2002 seeking approval for the purchasing of equipment which was required to enable the Council to achieve Blue and/or Yellow Flag Status at Broughty Ferry beach.

 

The Committee agreed that due to the specialist nature of the equipment and in terms of regulations governing tender procedures, offers from the undernoted specialist suppliers be accepted:-

XII BAXTER PARK RESTORATION PLAN/TENDER FOR LANDSCAPE REFURBISHMENT

 

On a reference to Article II of the minute of meeting of the Leisure Services Committee of 21st January, 2002, the Director of Leisure and Arts submitted Report No 897-2002 seeking approval for Land and Building Services to undertake the Landscape Restoration Works Year One for the Baxter Park Restoration Plan.

 

The Committee agreed to accept an offer of 57,206.72 from Land and Building Services for landscape restoration works to which required to be added a contingency of 2,860.34 giving a total cost of 60,067.06.
