The minute of meeting of this Committee of 12th September 2005 was held as read.

I DUNDEE CONTRACT SERVICES FINANCIAL OPERATING STATEMENT AND OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE FORTHE SIX MONTHS ENDED 30TH SEPTEMBER 2005

 

There was submitted Report No 666-2005 by the Depute Chief Executive (Finance) and Director of Dundee Contract Services appraising the Committee on the financial position and operational performance of Dundee Contract Services (DCS) for the six months ended 30th September 2005.

 

The Committee agreed to:

 

(i) note the current financial position and operational performance of DCS;

 

(ii) note the actions Dundee Contract Services management were taking in an effort to achieve the current financial year's budgeted surplus of 755,000 and;

 

(iii) note that Dundee Contract Services would achieve the statutory requirement of break even during the current financial year.

 

II DEMOLITION OF GATE LODGE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN439-2005 informing the Committee that with the opening of the Contact Centre in the main offices of Dundee Contract Services at Clepington Road, there was no longer a need for the gate lodge at the entrance to the offices.

 

A budget cost of 4,300 for the demolition and clearance of the building was provided by the City Engineer.

 

The Committee instructed the City Engineer to obtain offers for the demolition of the gate lodge and noted that the expenditure would be met from the Department's Revenue Estimates for 2005/2006.

 

III PUBLIC OPEN SPACES AND HOUSING LANDSCAPE AREAS - ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENTS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN440-2005 informing the Committee that environmental improvements would be carried out at a number of sites in the City.

 

The following sites were selected and costed:-

Rennel Road Open Space

shrub planting

Roseberry Street

removal of overgrown shrubs and replace with grass and new ground cover plantings.

Baluniefield Housing

removal of overgrown shrubs and replace with grass and new ground cover plantings.

Dalclaverhouse Housing

tree pruning, removal of overgrown shrubs and replace with grass and new ground cover plantings.

8,000

 

The estimated total cost of the works was 22,675 and would be met from the provision of 50K allowed for Public Open Spaces under the Department's Capital Estimates for 2005/2006.

 

The Committee agreed that these works be carried out by Dundee Contract Services at an estimated cost of 22,675.
