There was submitted Report No 670-2005 by the Director of Leisure and Communities informing the Committee of Short Courses Grants awarded during the period April 2005 to October 2005 to Leisure and Arts individuals.

III TENDERS RECEIVED

 

(a) CITY ENGINEER

 

The City Engineer submitted Report No 665-2005 giving details of offers received for the undernoted contract:-

 

(i) OLYMPIA - CONCRETE REPAIRS

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Castle Contracting Limited amounting to 17,760.00, together with allowances of 500.00 for contingencies, and 2,750.00 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 21,010.00.

 

(b) CITY ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES OFFICER

 

The City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 698-2005 giving details of offers received for the undernoted contract:-

 

(i) MILL O'MAINS - ALTERATIONS TO PAVILION

 

The Committee agreed to accept as a partnership project the offer from Dundee Contract Services up to a maximum price of 85,000.00, together with allowances of 1,000.00 for planning supervisor and 14,500.00 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 101,000.00.

IV MAGDALENE GREEN - NAMING OF LAND

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN445-2005, asking the Committee to approve the naming of two pieces of land south of the railway line at Magdalen Green, to the east and west of the pavilion. The names are Buckingham Point for the land to the east and Wills Braes for the land to the west of the pavilion.

 

The Committee approved the above.

 

V OLYMPIA CLOSURE FOR ESSENTIAL REPAIRS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN446-2005, informing the Committee that to enable the Olympia annual equipment survey and essential maintenance programme to be carried out, approval was sought for Olympia to close from Monday, 5 December to Sunday, 18 December, 2005 inclusive.

 

The Committee approved the above.

 

VI PURCHASE OF GRASS CUTTING MACHINERY FOR GROUNDS MAINTENANCE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN447-2005 requesting that the Committee award the contract for grass cutting machinery to Fairways GM Ltd, Inchinnan, Renfrew:-

 

One-Ransomes TG4650 hydraulic trailed gang mower (7 unit) - 20,445.00

One-Ransomes Highway 2130 4-wheel drive triple cylinder mower - 21,615.00

 

The Committee approved the above, noting that the expenditure of 42,060 would be met from the 2005/06 Capital Budget allocated to Leisure and Arts.

 

VII ILAM SCOTLAND/NASD SCOTTISH SPORTS DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE "SPORTS DEVELOPMENT -SHAPING THE BIGGER PICTURE" - 1 TO 2 DECEMBER, 2005 - DUNBLANE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN449-2005 advising the Committee that delegates were invited to attend the above conference at a cost per person of 285 and instructions were sought regarding attendance.

 

The Committee approved the attendance of one member of the Administration, one member of the SNP Group and one member of the Conservative Group.
