The minute of meeting of this Committee of 20th February 2006 was held as read.

I DUBAI TRADE MISSION

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN93-2006 advising that Business Gateway International Tayside was organising a trade mission to Dubai between 27th May and 1st June 2006 and Dundee City Council had been asked to act as the lead in the development and implementation of the mission.

 

The Committee noted that dependent on the number of companies attending the mission one or two staff members from the Economic Development Department would require to accompany the mission along with Scottish Enterprise staff.

 

II TENDERS RECEIVED

 

There was submitted Report No 187-2006 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing offers received in respect of the undernoted contracts:-

 

(a) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - WATER HYGIENE MONITORING PROGRAMME 2006/2007 - SOCIAL WORK

 

On a reference to Article I(b)(iii) of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 14th February 2005, the Committee agreed to extend the existing contract with Ion Limited, Coatbridge to carry out the above works for the sum of 16,000 together with an allowance of 1,600 for professional services making a total expenditure of 17,600.

 

(b) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE FOR GAS SOUNDING TESTING 2006/2011

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Scan Building Services Limited amounting to 67,447.50 together with an allowance of 6,745 for professional services making a total expenditure of 74,192.50.

(c) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - SERVICE AND CLEANING OF BOILERS, BURNERS AND FLUES 2006/2011

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Scan Building Services Limited amounting to 176,875 together with an allowance of 17,688 for professional services making a total expenditure of 194,563.

 

The Committee also noted that Scan Building Services Limited had listed Boiler and Heating Services as the sub-contractor for servicing.

 

(d) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE CONTRACT FOR KITCHEN CANOPIES, DUCTWORK, EXTRACT VENTILATION AND INSECTOCUTORS

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Vent Clean Services amounting to 148,518.80 together with an allowance of 14,852 for professional services making a total expenditure of 163,370.80.

 

The Committee also noted that Vent Clean Services had listed Wardah Electrics Limited as the sub-contractor for electrical work.

 

(e) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - WATER HYGIENE MONITORING PROGRAMME 2006/2007 - EDUCATION AND COMMUNITIES

 

On a reference to Article I(b)(iv) of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 14th February 2005 the Committee agreed to extend the existing contract with Building Environmental Hygiene Limited to carry out the above works for the sum of 58,276 together with an allowance of 5,828 for professional services making a total expenditure of 64,104.

 

(f) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - WATER HYGIENE MONITORING PROGRAMME 2006/2007 - WASTE MANAGEMENT

 

The Committee agreed to extend the existing contract with Rentokil Hygiene, East Kilbride to carry out the above works for the sum of 5,000 together with an allowance of 500 for professional services making a total expenditure of 5,500.

 

(g) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - WATER HYGIENE MONITORING PROGRAMME 2006/2007 - HOUSING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

 

On a reference to Article I(b)(iv) of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 14th March 2005 the Committee agreed to extend the existing contract by Building Environmental Hygiene Limited to carry out the above works for the sum of 72,000 together with an allowance of 7,200 for professional services making a total expenditure of 79,200.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

There was submitted and approved Report No 170-2006 by the Director of Economic Development detailing commercial leases in respect of the undernoted premises:-

IV RENT REVIEWS

 

There was submitted and noted Report No 171-2006 by the Director of Economic Development detailing a rent review in respect of 12 Westport.

 

V PURCHASE OF SITE EXTENDING TO 3.06 HECTARES OR THEREBY, DRUMGEITH ROAD

 

The Director of Economic Development submitted Report No 63-2006 advising the Committee that following consultation with the Convener of the Planning and Transportation Committee and relevant Spokespersons and the Director of Planning and Transportation, the Director of Economic Development had negotiated a purchase price for the above site on the terms and conditions detailed.

 

The Committee noted accordingly.

 

VI 0.21 HA (0.51 ACRES) OR THEREBY - JACK MARTIN WAY, CLAVERHOUSE INDUSTRIAL PARK EAST

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN94-2006 advising that the Director of Economic Development had negotiated the sale of the above sites on the terms and conditions detailed.

 

The Committee approved and remitted to the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) to conclude the necessary legal formalities.

 

VII 0.198 HA (0.49 ACRE) SITE AT WEST MARKETGAIT

 

On a reference to Article X of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 13th August 2001 there was submitted Agenda Note AN172-2006 advising the Committee of a transfer of ownership on the terms and conditions detailed.

 

The Committee approved accordingly and noted that a further report would be submitted to this Committee on funding arrangements.
