The minute of meeting of this Committee of 12th January, 2009 was held as read.

I DUNDEE CORE PATHS PLAN

 

On a reference to Article V of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 20th April, 2008 and after considering Report No 57-2009 by the Director of Leisure and Communities relative to the above, the Committee approved the adoption of the Dundee Core Paths Plan and remitted to the Director of Leisure and Communities to undertake the necessary statutory procedures to formally adopt the Plan and to keep it under review.

 

II DUNDEE TREE AND URBAN FORESTRY POLICY

 

After considering Report No 447-2008 by the Director of Leisure and Communities, Director of Planning and Transportation and Director of Dundee Contract Services relative to the above, the Committee approved the adoption of the policy appended to the report to provide a framework for the management of Dundee's urban trees and forestry stock.

 

III REVENUE BUDGET 2009/2010 - HOUSING REVENUE ACCOUNT

 

There was submitted Report No 21-2009 by the Head of Finance relative to the above.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i) approved the 2009/2010 Revenue Budget for the Housing Revenue Account; and

 

(ii) remitted further consideration of this matter to the Housing, Dundee Contract Services and Environment Services Committee in order that it may set the 2009/2010 rent levels.

 

IV FAIRER SCOTLAND FUND COMMUNITY REGENERATION FORUM ALLOCATION 2008/2010

 

There was submitted Report No 37-2009 by the Assistant Chief Executive relative to the above.

 

The Committee noted the process for allocating grants through the Local Community Regeneration Forums as agreed by the Dundee Partnership and endorsed the funding proposals detailed below.

Young people between 12 and 18 will be trained to be young fire fighters and given a programme of events and activities to work towards responsible citizenship.

V COVERAGE OF THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION (SCOTLAND) ACT 2002

 

There was submitted Report No 39-2009 by the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) relative to the Scottish Government's discussion document on the possibility of extending the coverage of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

 

The Committee noted for information and record purposes that, in view of the timescales involved, the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) in consultation with the Convener and Group spokespersons had approved the response in the Appendix to this report and agreed that it be forwarded to the Scottish Government.

 

VI SUMMARY JUSTICE REFORM

 

There was submitted Report No 35-2009 by the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) relative to the replacement of the existing Council-run District Court in Dundee with a new Justice of the Peace Court.

 

The Committee noted the position and expressed its thanks to all Justices of the Peace and District Court staff, past and present, for their contribution to the administration of Summary Criminal Justice in Dundee since 1975.
