At a MEETING of the SCRUTINY COMMITTEE held at Dundee on 9th September, 2009.

Prior to the consideration of the formal business on the agenda and during the course of the meeting, the Committee agreed the undernoted.

 

(1) Remit to Director of Social Work to arrange for the Care Commission to make a presentation to members of this Committee on the inspection process.

 

(2) Remit to the Director of Social Work to explain the Care Commission standards to members of this Committee.

 

Future Reports

 

(1) The Scrutiny Committee includes a recommendation in the consideration of inspection reports encouraging continuous improvement.

 

(2) To include a recommendation in the consideration of inspection reports requesting the relevant Director to report any slippage to the timescales shown in improvement plans to the Service Committee.

 

(3) The relevant Director includes a summary of the issues raised from the questionnaires.

 

I INSPECTION OF HOUSING SUPPORT TEAM (INCLUDING DOUGLAS NEIGHBOURHOOD PROJECT) BY THE CARE COMMISSION

 

There was submitted Report No 390-2009 by the Director of Housing reporting on the findings of the Care Commission inspection of the Housing Support Team (including the Douglas Neighbourhood Project).

 

The Committee, after having questioned the Director of Housing and Senior Management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report;

 

(ii) instruct the Director of Housing to monitor progress towards meeting the areas for improvement contained in the report and to continue to improve the service; and

 

(iii) remit to the Director of Housing to report any slippage to the timescales shown in the improvement plan to the Service Committee.

 

II INSPECTION OF SHELTERED HOUSING WARDEN SERVICE BY THE CARE COMMISSION

 

There was submitted Report No 389-2009 by the Director of Housing reporting on the findings of the Care Commission inspection of the Sheltered Housing Warden Service.

 

The Committee, after having questioned the Director of Housing and Senior Management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report;

 

(ii) instruct the Director of Housing to monitor progress towards meeting the areas for improvement contained in the report and to continue to improve the service; and

 

(iii) remit to the Director of Housing to report any slippage to the timescales shown in the improvement plan to the Service Committee.

 

III INSPECTION OF SUPPORTED LIVING TEAM BY CARE COMMISSION

 

There was submitted Report No 434-2009 by the Director of Social Work reporting on the findings of the inspection of the Supported Living Team Housing Support Service.

 

The Committee, having questioned the Director of Social Work and Senior Management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) remit to the Director of Social Work to monitor the continued progress towards improving this service and to continue to improve the service.

 

IV INSPECTION OF JANET BROUGHAM HOUSE BY THE CARE COMMISSION

 

There was submitted Report No 437-2009 by the Director of Social Work reporting on the findings of the inspection of Janet Brougham House Care Home.

 

The Committee, having questioned the Director of Social Work and Senior Management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) remit to the Director of Social Work to monitor the continued progress towards improving this service and to continue to improve the service.

 

V INSPECTION OF EAST PORT HOUSE - OFFENDER ACCOMMODATION SERVICE BY THE CARE COMMISSION

 

There was submitted Report No 436-2009 summarising the findings and gradings awarded by the Care Commission to East Port House, Offender Accommodation Service.

 

The Committee, having questioned the Director of Social Work and Senior Management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) remit to the Director of Social Work to monitor the continued progress towards improving this service and to continue to improve the service.

 

VI INSPECTION OF ELMGROVE HOUSE BY THE CARE COMMISSION

 

There was submitted Report No 435-2009 by the Director of Social Work on the findings of the inspection of Elmgrove House.

 

The Committee, having questioned the Director of Social Work and Senior Management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) remit to the Director of Social Work to monitor the continued progress towards improving this service and to continue to improve the service.

 

VIII CITY COUNCIL - EMPLOYEES

 

The Committee agreed to record their appreciation in respect of the excellent work carried out by employees on behalf of client groups.
