I CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR CLOSURE IN ARTS AND HERITAGE FACILITIES

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No. 683-2000 informing the Committee of the Festive Season closing times within the Arts and Heritage facilities.

 

The Committee noted the contents of the report as detailed below:-

II COMING TO OUR SENSES

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No. 690-2000 informing the Committee of the success of the application to the Scottish Arts Council for support for the forthcoming exhibition "Coming to our Senses".

 

The Committee noted the contents of the report and agreed to the establishment of a cross-departmental officer steering group involving the Education, Social Work, Leisure and Parks and Neighbourhood Resources and Development Departments to move the project forward.

 

III SCOTTISH CULTURAL RESOURCES ACCESS NETWORK

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No. 702-2000 informing the Committee of the continued participation of the Arts and Heritage Department in the Scottish Cultural Resources Access Network (SCRAN) through the Camperdown Consortium.

 

The Committee noted the report.

 

IV GRANTS TO NATIONAL ORGANISATIONS AND OTHER OUTSIDE BODIES

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No. 694-2000 seeking approval to award grants to a range of Arts and Heritage organisations.

 

The Committee authorised the payment of 11,000 for grants as detailed in the appendix to the report.

 

V "CHANGING NATURE" PROJECT

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No. 707-2000 on the success of this community project and the forthcoming associated displays.

 

The Committee noted the contents of the report and remitted to the appropriate officers to prepare proposals for follow-up work.

 

VI McMANUS GALLERIES - REPLACEMENT FLOOR COVERING GALLERIES 7 AND 8

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No. 723-2000 giving details of offers received for replacing the floor coverings in Galleries 7 and 8 at McManus Galleries.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the most advantageous offer by John Swan Flooring for carpet tiles at a cost of 4,217.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

 

VII CATERING FRANCHISE - McMANUS GALLERIES

 

It was reported that the catering franchise to run the caf/restaurant facility (Caf in the Square) at the McManus Galleries had been advertised with a closing date of Friday, 29th September, 2000 and that two tenders had been received.

 

On the recommendation of the Director of Economic Development, the Committee agreed to accept the most advantageous offer.
