Open Day at New Harris Academy26/09/16
An open day is to be held at the new Harris Academy, Perth Road, on Saturday October 1 between 10am and 2pm to give FPs, neighbours and the wider public a chance to see inside the new £31 million building.
Head teacher Barry Millar and staff will be on hand along with pupils to give an insight into the state of the art secondary school, which opened for pupils last month.
Mr Millar said: “We have been overwhelmed by the interest from people in the new school and an open day is a good way to allow as many of them as possible to have a look around.
“We are very proud of the new building and the links it retains to the original Perth Road school.”
Dundee City Council children and families service convener Councillor Stewart Hunter added: “This stunning new school building is designed to meet the educational challenges of the future and be an inspirational learning centre for our young people.
“I would encourage people to come along on the open day to see the building for themselves.”
Work started on the new school in 2014, following demolition of the previous 1931 building.
Original features such as the clock tower and the stone entrance portico have been retained and reused prominently in the new building.
The project was led by hub East Central Scotland in partnership with Dundee Council, Scottish Futures Trust and Robertson Tayside.
